Appalachian Baskets
|
The basketmakers of Appalachia have been crafting hard-working baskets for over a century, and we pay tribute to their designs with our handcrafted reproductions.
Our Appalachian baskets are woven by hand in Haiti, where the tradition of basket weaving has been refined by
many generations of skilled craftspeople. The ribbed body
(up to 18 ribs on each lobe) is a signature style of Appalachia. The local weaving materials look just like the traditional white oak of the originals. These baskets are woven without forms so that each one is an individual work of art.
