Handwoven baskets
Baskets were once an essential part of homemaking in Vermont, and no one knows baskets better than Basketville.
You couldn’t do your laundry, harvest the apples or sew a hem without the help of a basket in the old days. And over many decades we learned to make the best possible baskets for every household and homesteading chore. Our baskets are all handwoven and made to uphold to the Yankee work ethic.
Nowadays we let fashion into the equation. So we find ourselves weaving baskets out of trendy materials like seagrass, maize, rush and paper rope, as well as willow and wood. But the same principles apply. Pretty is as pretty does, and a good looking basket must also be well made.
Life is not all hard work, of course. Even in Vermont we have picnics. You’ll find that picnic baskets are something of a specialty at Basketville. For a terrific gift, you might try a picnic basket full of Vermont victuals from our shelves.
We always offer interesting gift baskets at Basketville, each with a homey theme.
