Although the name “Basketville” was invented in the 1940's, the company's roots go back to 1842. It has always been a family-owned and operated business in Vermont.
Today the company headquarters are in Putney, Vermont, and the family's love of handmade baskets of all kinds has led to expansion on an international scale. Basketville weaves baskets in its own workshop in China, as well as importing baskets from around the world.
Basketville's earliest baskets were made for chores around the farm and homestead: harvesting, hauling and storing. Today you can find a basket for just about any purpose at Basketville, from laundry baskets to picnic baskets.
Each Basketville basket is woven by hand according to methods that go back to the early settlers, who learned from Native American weavers.
Over the years, making baskets for every space in the home has turned us into homebodies, so that Basketville is not just a basket store but its own unique brand of home store.
