History of Basketville, America's Oldest Basket Company
Although the name Basketville was invented in the 1940's, the company's roots go back to 1842. It has always been a family-owned and operated business in Vermont.
Today the family workshop and corporate headquarters are in Putney, Vermont, and the family's love of baskets of all kinds has led to expansion on an international scale. Basketville weaves baskets in its own workshop in China, and imports baskets from around the world.
Basketville's earliest baskets were made for chores around the farm and homestead: harvesting, hauling and storing.
Each Basketville basket is woven by hand according to methods that go back to the early settlers, who learned from Native American weavers.
